Table Read Guide

We talked a bit about table reads at the last workshop, so putting a simple guide here for anyone who wants to try it.

Totally optional.

You can always bring rough ideas, talk things out, or just listen and give feedback like usual. If you do want to try a table read, here are a few things that help:

• bring printed copies if you can, ideally enough for each role with dialogue and one for narration

• or be ready to airdrop/email, that’s totally fine too

• keep it short if you can (1–3 pages works best for the group)

• label characters clearly so people can follow along

• don’t worry about it being polished, rough drafts are completely fine

• be open to hearing it out loud and seeing what lands

Sometimes just hearing it read changes everything.
